Dr Tessa Strain

About
Tessa is an epidemiologist working at the University of Edinburgh with a particular interest in measuring physical activity in national surveys. This originates from her time working at NatCen Social Research. She has since published articles using several different UK national surveys and worked with the World Health Organization to produce the 2024 global estimates of adult activity levels. Tessa co-chaired the Chief Medical Officers’ Expert Group on Physical Activity Surveillance 2019-2021 and is currently working with the University of Limerick to provide recommendations on physical activity surveillance in Ireland.
