About

Dawn has been Head of Physical Activity and Health at Cardiff Met University since 2021 and was one of the original staff that transferred to the University from the Council’s Sports Development team 10 years ago as part of the joint venture agreement.
Now based in Met Sport, Dawn is oversees the partnerships with the Cardiff & Vale Health Board, Cardiff Council, and Sport Wales, ensuring her role spans education settings, health pathways, community development and facilities. For the past three years, Dawn has implemented a systems way of working, mapping the system across Cardiff. During this time, Dawn has advocated for the use of the onion model to demonstrate how the system influences opportunities for physical activity at all levels. Dawn is passionate about aligning policy to practise and bringing partners together to join the system to itself, ensuring communities are supported to create opportunities to move more. In her spare time, Dawn enjoys playing hockey, while also providing a great taxi service for her children’s various activities.
