About
Jamie completed a PhD in clinical exercise physiology and is now a Professor of Sport and Exercise Science in the Institute for Applied Human Physiology at Bangor University. He has an honorary contract with his local Health Board and leads a program of applied research aiming to help people living with chronic conditions to move more, more of the time. As well as being a founder member of the Wales Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport and the WIPAHS Institution Lead for Bangor University, Jamie is co-chair of the UK Kidney Association/Kidney Research UK Physical Activity, Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Group, and a member of the Global Renal Exercise Network. Jamie’s favourite part of his role is collaborating with researchers and applied practitioners, on projects such as GATEKEEPER, Kidney BEAM, the PEDAL Trial, and BISTRO. When not working, Jamie can be found in the outdoors, often with his daughter in tow, desperately trying to climb, bike and ski as well as he did 20 years ago.
